TWO Cool climate Ranges produced in the heart of the elgin valley
crafted at 300m altitude -
Being only approximately 15 km from the Atlantic ocean, together with predominately ferruginous (iron rich) gravel on highly weathered soft Bokkeveld Group shale and also situated at 300 m altitude surrounded by Table Mountain sandstone mountains at heights of about 500 – 1000 m, sheltering our vineyards from the often extremely strong south-easterly winds in summer, makes this the coolest wine region in South Africa. Our aim with the Elgin Vintners range, is a true expression of this unique Elgin Valley terroir.
Longer ripening on the vine, minimal intervention in the cellar and extended lees contact is a culmination of a wine with character, complexity and concentration which reflects in our wine a true sense of place.
ELGIN VINTNERS RANGE:
old world style -
A special pocket of vine rows selected from our Ridgelands vineyards, taking into consideration the unique synergy of soil type and clonal selection.
Our hands on approach from vineyard to cellar, extended maturation under ideal conditions and time being our friend makes this special cuveé typical Old World style of wine.
