Pinot Noir
Ponthuis Pinot Noir
The natural cherry and game characters of Pinot Noir pair wonderfully with the sweet and smoky flavours of barbecue. In particular, barbecued pork and skewers with bacon wrap will be highlighted by the corresponding flavours in Pinot Noir. You would also be surprised how well barbecued chicken goes with a glass of Pinot Noir. And to top it all, chocolatecovered strawberries will satisfy the taste buds.
Merlot
Oudebrug Merlot
The grapes are destemmed but not crushed. The whole berries are fermented in open-top wooden fermenters. Natural fermentation is allowed, allowing the natural microflora (indigenous yeasts) to express true terroir characteristics. Pump-overs are done twice daily. Fermentation took 28 days to complete. After pressing, the wine is filled into 500 L and 300 L French oak barrels, of which 20% is new oak. Malolactic fermentation takes place inthe barrel, and the wine is then left to matured for 20 – 22 months.
Sauvignon Blanc
Sandstone Sauvignon Blanc
A cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc from Elgin, crafted in an oxidative style and fermented in 500L French oak barrels for added richness and complexity. Extended lees contact with occasional bâtonnage enhances its creamy texture and round mouthfeel. Aged for nine months, the wine balances Elgin’s natural acidity with a full-bodied, elegant finish.
